about
Luddite brings a new angle to the Attendant sound, relying less on heavily distorted guitars for its energy and more on punchy rhythms, inventive arrangements, and layered vocals.
The inspiration came from indie rock and garage punk bands, like The Hives and Bad Nerves. I wanted to do something with that bright, crunchy guitar sound, but at the tempo of a grunge song.
The lyrics cast a sceptical eye over technological hype and those who profit from it. The golden rule of satire is always punch upward. What better target than tech billionaires?
It's also the first release featuring Guy Davis on drums (formerly of Reuben and Freeze The Atlantic).
lyrics
Long forgotten shame
Gone as memories fade
Now everyone's become a spy
We brandish telescopic eyes
A record of it haunts us to the grave
Well you can keep it
Forgo flesh and bone
There's no disgrace like home
Fabricated token life, imaginary trophy wife
You never even satisfied your own
Well you can keep it
You can keep your
Terminally boring masquerade
That moral debt accrued along the way
Cut the signal off to liberate
It just requires a single wire to break
Keep your bleeding edge
Overhyping chasing highs
Desensitised to your supply
Dying suffocated by the weight
Of all you take
You can keep it
