about
Doomscroller is about empathy as a casualty of the culture war.
The song takes aim at those whose sense of reality is distorted, and whose humanity is eroded, by the hate they consume online.
It was the first follow-up to the Unreality EP, written as part of that set of songs. It should really have been on the EP, but didn't make it because the lyrics weren't finished in time.

lyrics
Build the walls and seal the doors
Incarcerate us safe and gaslit
I could tolerate some more
Like seven, maybe eight
But that's it
There are those who we'll betray
But that's a price that I can pay
We're doing what it takes to win the war
We're forearmed
And forewarned
Forearmed
And forewarned
This distant place where unfamiliar faces disrespect our diktats
I'll accept a difference of perspective now and then
But not that
Send 'em in to decimate it
If they get eviscerated
It's just what it takes to win the war
We're forearmed
And forewarned
Forearmed
And forewarned
Forearmed
And forewarned
Forearmed
And forewarned
My tribe tells lies that comfort me
Unlike those experts on TV
Serve up discord like cattle feed
And I'll keep gorging
Never underestimate
The human appetite for hate
When doing what it takes to win the war
We're forearmed
And forewarned
Forearmed
And forewarned
