about
A.I.T.A. (Am I The Asshole) is about a guy with zero empathy or self-awareness, told from the titular asshole’s point of view.
He’s the worst person imaginable but goes through life believing everyone else is the problem.
It’s fun to assume the role of the bad guy. I enjoy creating larger-than-life caricatures of unpleasant people and lampooning them, seeing how far I can push it.
It's not the most popular Attendant song, but it's one of my personal favourites. For me, it strikes the perfect balance of energy, melody and humour.

lyrics
You came and ground my patience down
With expectations high
If you wanted more than I bargained for
Then you should have specified
It is hard to keep the love intact
With a scat-flinging monkey on your back
I’ll blame evolutionary fact
Primal instinct or something like that
If dedication’s what it takes
To keep you pacified
Desperate times mean desperate measures
I’ll keep playing along
But resent you all the while
I was laying naked half awake
When I heard you crying on the fire escape
I contemplated saving face
With a dry-lipped kiss and a cold embrace
Should I care enough
To mean it
I can feel you glaring, teeth clenched tight
As I paint myself in a glowing light
You’d think I’d stand up for what’s right
But I sit back down coz it’s not my fight
Do I care enough
To fake it
